Erik ten Hag Dismisses Media ‘Fairytales’ About His Future at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hit back at the media for spreading “stories and fairytales” about his future at the club, insisting that he has not been given any fresh assurances regarding his position.

Ten Hag, who guided United to FA Cup success last season, finds himself under increasing scrutiny as the Red Devils sit 14th in the Premier League. Despite a significant summer spending spree of around £200 million ($261m), United has struggled in their first seven league matches, failing to deliver the expected improvements and slipping into the bottom half of the table.

Firm Rejection of Media Speculation

Amid reports that the Dutchman’s job may be at risk, Ten Hag has firmly denied any internal discussions about his dismissal.

“The noise is only coming from the media, from you guys. From some of you, not all of you, but some of you. Bringing up stories, creating stories, creating fairy tales, making noise, bringing lies.” Ten Hag said when asked if he had received any assurances from the United hierarchy.

He went on to say:

“I know we are all on one page in this club. I see the reports, but internally in the club it’s quiet. Of course, we are discussing the position where we are, that we are unhappy in the position where we are and we have to turn the corner… But ultimately we are quiet, composed, and we stick to the plan. We are very convinced we will make it a success.”
