Atalanta’s star player, Ademola Lookman, is at the center of a heated transfer saga as two European giants, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, vie for his signature. The Serie A side is looking to capitalize on the interest in Lookman, who was a key figure in La Dea’s historic Europa League triumph last season— their first major victory since 1963. Lookman scored a remarkable hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, solidifying his status as one of Gian Piero Gasperini’s main stars. However, the Nigerian forward is considering a move away from the club this summer and has even refused to join training, leaving Atalanta in a difficult position.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Lookman has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential transfer this summer. Les Parisiens have initiated contact with Atalanta to secure Lookman as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, though negotiations are currently at a standstill.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is also in the race, with Mikel Arteta keen on strengthening his attacking options. Reports suggest that Arsenal is “closely monitoring” the situation and is ready to pounce if the deal with PSG falls through.
With the summer transfer window set to close on Friday, August 30, PSG is eager to finalize the deal swiftly to avoid any last-minute drama.
