Mert Furkan, one of the most promising talents produced by Altınordu, attracted attention with his performance in his first professional league season in 2023-2024. During this period, the 19-year-old goalkeeper was promoted to the U18 and U19 National Teams, and he played as a starter in 16 matches in TFF 2nd League. Mert Furkan also continues to guard the goal for our national team in the 2024 UEFA European U19 Championship held in Northern Ireland.
The U19 National Team lost 2-1 to France in their first match of Group B, where Mert started. If Mert transfers to Atletico Madrid, he will become the fourth Turkish player to play for the club, following Arda Turan, Emre Belözoğlu, and Çağlar Söyüncü.
