Leipzig’s Asking Price Disclosed

Dani Olmo, who shone with the Spain National Team at EURO 2024, has become a hot commodity in the transfer market. The star player from Leipzig is drawing significant interest from Spanish La Liga giant Barcelona and Premier League powerhouse Manchester City.

Barcelona’s inability to pay Olmo’s €60 million release clause upfront has led the club to develop a new payment strategy. The club aims to structure the transfer fee in line with their financial constraints, potentially offering a base transfer fee between €40 million and €50 million, payable in three installments. The remaining amount to reach €60 million would be covered through performance-based bonuses.

Barcelona has reportedly offered Olmo a six-year contract. This long-term deal allows the club to amortize the transfer fee over several years, easing financial pressures and complying with La Liga and UEFA regulations.

The proposed contract for Olmo includes an initial salary similar to his current earnings at Leipzig, approximately €11 million per year (€9 million / $12 million). However, in line with the model used for other high-profile signings like Robert Lewandowski and İlkay Gündoğan, the salary will significantly increase from the third year onwards.

To accommodate the financial flexibility required for Olmo’s transfer, Barcelona is considering offloading several players. Potential departures include central defenders Clement Lenglet and Inigo Martinez, as well as Brazilian youngster Vitor Roque.

Alongside Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, who also impressed at EURO 2024, has become a primary target for Barcelona and their coach Hansi Flick. The Catalans are determined to secure their desired transfers and hold the reins to reach their goals.
