Daniel Ricciardo Expresses Interest in NASCAR, MotoGP, and Supercars Beyond F1

Daniel Ricciardo has hinted at his potential future outside of Formula 1, expressing a desire to try his hand at other racing series like NASCAR, MotoGP, and Supercars. Amid speculation about his future in F1, the 35-year-old Australian downplayed rumors that he might lose his Red Bull seat to rookie Liam Lawson after the Singapore Grand Prix, but also revealed his ambitions to explore different motorsports.

In an interview with Tourism Western Australia, Ricciardo said, “I grew up a fan of NASCAR. I’d like to drive a NASCAR, I’d love to drive around Daytona for example. But would I like to compete? Yes and no. I know it’s not what I grew up doing, and I’ll probably get smoked, but I would love to experience it.”

Ricciardo has already had a taste of NASCAR, having driven Dale Earnhardt’s 1984 Monte Carlo Chevrolet at the 2021 US Grand Prix. As a longtime admirer of the NASCAR legend, Ricciardo’s tribute even earned praise from Dale Earnhardt Jr., who appreciated the F1 star’s support for his family’s legacy.

In addition to stock cars, Ricciardo has expressed a love for motorbikes, often sharing his passion on social media. He admitted, “I love motorbikes … but I would be very, very slow and probably horrendous,” adding that he’d like to try MotoGP purely for the experience.

As Ricciardo’s F1 career faces uncertainty, his admiration for other motorsports opens the door to exciting new possibilities, including a potential foray into Supercars, another racing series he holds in high regard.
