Erling Haaland Skips Ballon d’Or Ceremony to Support Friend Erik Botheim in Malmo Match

Erling Haaland of Manchester City chose to watch his close buddy Erik Botheim play for Malmo versus Goteborg in Sweden rather than attend the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris. Despite being nominated for the award after an outstanding 2023–24 campaign, teammates Rodri and Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid were predicted to be the front-runners, making Haaland a low favorite.

The Support Shown by Haaland in Malmo

As he relished the match in Sweden, Haaland made it a priority to cheer for Botheim in person because his prospects of winning the Ballon d’Or were diminished this year. Haaland’s choice demonstrates his level-headedness as he enjoys his amazing season without needing the attention of Paris.
