Four Manchester City players have been included in the prestigious FIFPro Men’s World XI for 2024, highlighting the club’s dominance in global football. This year’s team, based on performances from August 2023 to July 2024, features some of the best talent from around the world.
Joining Manchester City’s stars in the FIFPro Men’s World XI are Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and several standout players from Real Madrid. Argentina’s Lionel Messi, a regular fixture in the team since 2006, has been absent for the first time in nearly two decades, as he moved to Inter Miami in July 2023.
The forward line for this year’s team includes Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, and France’s Kylian Mbappé, who made his move to Madrid from PSG in the summer. Haaland’s selection continues to underline Manchester City’s strength, with the Norwegian forward contributing significantly to the club’s Premier League success.
At the heart of the midfield, Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid earned the top spot in the overall voting with 11,176 selections from his fellow professionals. Bellingham, along with his Real Madrid teammates Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, and Toni Kroos, played a key role in securing La Liga and Champions League titles last season, with Kroos retiring after Germany’s Euro 2024 campaign.
Manchester City’s presence in the FIFPro Men’s World XI is further strengthened by the inclusion of Ederson, Kevin de Bruyne, and Rodri, who helped the team secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title. Rodri and Carvajal also triumphed with Spain in Euro 2024, contributing to their strong performances.
Over 28,000 professional footballers from 70 countries voted for this year’s teams, with the men’s XI being determined by their performances during the 2023-2024 season.
