Galatasaray Squanders 3-Goal Lead at Home, Draws Against Kasimpasa

Galatasaray, leading 3-0 at home, couldn’t hold on to their advantage and ended up with a 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa.

In the 7th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, league leaders Galatasaray hosted Kasimpasa. The yellow-reds took a 3-0 lead but ended the match in a 3-3 draw.

The scoring opened for the home side in the 20th minute at Rams Park. Victor Osimhen tapped in a ball sent across from the left by Abdülkerim Bardakcı, putting his team ahead. The Nigerian striker celebrated his first goal in the Galatasaray jersey.

Osimhen doubled the lead with a classy finish in the 28th minute. In the 34th minute, Mauro Icardi added another stylish goal, making it 3-0.

Kasimpasa reduced the deficit in the 44th minute with a goal from Fall, sending the teams into the halftime break with Galatasaray leading 3-1.

In the 54th minute, a penalty decision in favor of Kasimpasa was overturned after a VAR review, but in the 82nd minute, the visitors earned another penalty after a second VAR review. Haris Hajradinovic converted the penalty in the 83rd minute, bringing the score to 3-2.

In the 90+5th minute, Kasimpasa’s Nuno Da Costa scored the equalizer, sealing the 3-3 result.

Following this outcome, Galatasaray moved up to 19 points, while Kasimpasa, who clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, reached 7 points.

Osimhen and Icardi Partner Up on the Pitch

Head coach Okan Buruk made a tactical switch, fielding his team with two strikers.

For the first time, the much-anticipated Victor Osimhen-Mauro Icardi duo played together as starters for Galatasaray in this match. Unlike previous games, Buruk set up his team in a 4-4-2 formation.

Osimhen, who suffered a knock in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the first half, was subbed off at halftime to avoid any further risk, with Mertens coming on in his place.
