German Legend’s Claim on Nuri Sahin: “Some Players Don’t Want Him”

Following Borussia Dortmund’s recent streak of losses, it’s been suggested that some players are unhappy with manager Nuri Sahin. Borussia Dortmund’s Sporting Director, Sebastian Kehl, made striking comments regarding Sahin’s future with the German team.

Nuri Sahin, who replaced Edin Terzic as head coach this past June, is reportedly in a precarious position after Dortmund’s 5-2 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League, followed by a 2-1 defeat to Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

German football legend Dietmar Hamann commented on Sky after the match, saying, “After the last 10 games, I feel many players no longer want this coach. Players are employees of the club. It’s not their job to decide, but I sense one or two players are benefitting from this situation.” When asked which players might want Sahin gone, Hamann replied, “I have my guesses, but it’s not my place to say.”

Despite these claims and the team’s poor form, Sahin continues to receive backing from the club. Dortmund’s Sporting Director, Sebastian Kehl, responded to questions about Sahin’s future, stating, “There’s no question about it! I work with Nuri every day. I see how meticulously he prepares for matches and manages tasks. We’re moving forward together—no doubt about that. We’re fully behind him.”

Borussia Dortmund currently stands 7th in the Bundesliga with 13 points after 8 games, recording 4 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses. In the Champions League, they are in 11th place with 6 points from 3 matches.

Nuri Sahin’s team will next face Wolfsburg in the second round of the German Cup on Tuesday.
