Ilia Topuria Threatens to ‘Knock Out’ Javier Tebas Over El Clasico Scheduling Clash

La Liga president Javier Tebas has been criticized by MMA star Ilia Topuria for arranging El Clasico in a way that conflicts with his much awaited UFC 308 bout against Max Holloway. The Real Madrid supporter is facing a schedule conflict because his fight on Saturday in Dubai falls on the same day as the historic Real Madrid vs. Barcelona event at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Topuria’s Reaction to the Clash

The clash between El Clasico, scheduled for 9 pm Spanish time (8 pm UK), and Topuria’s fight, set for 10:30 pm, has left the UFC featherweight contender disappointed. Speaking to reporters, Topuria humorously vented his frustrations, stating:

“Let’s see if I’ve made a mistake and instead of knocking out Holloway, I have to knock out the person responsible for putting that match at the same time and on the same day as my fight.”

When informed that Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, was responsible for the scheduling, Topuria playfully suggested that Tebas could be his next target. With a smile, Topuria quipped, “Then we will go for Javier Tebas. He’s next.”
