Joel Embiid Ejected After Heated Exchange With Referee

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid was ejected during his team’s 111-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs after a heated confrontation with referee Jenna Schroeder.

The incident occurred with 2:59 remaining in the first half when Embiid was called for his third foul after a collision with Victor Wembanyama, knocking the Spurs’ French star to the floor. Embiid protested the decision vehemently, removing his protective face mask and confronting Schroeder. Despite being restrained, his continued objections resulted in two technical fouls and an automatic ejection from the game.

Earlier in the game, a decision to eject Philadelphia’s Andre Drummond for two technical fouls following a challenge on Wembanyama was overturned, adding to the drama.

“It was a wild first half,” 76ers coach Nick Nurse said postgame.
