Jordan Loyd has Parted Ways with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv

Jordan Loyd has officially parted ways with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv after just two weeks into the EuroLeague season. Due to the heightened military tensions in Israel, Loyd and his family expressed concerns about returning to the region, prompting a meeting between the player, his representatives, and Maccabi’s management. The decision was made for Loyd to leave the club under a mutual agreement.

Loyd has opted to forego his $1.1 million yearly salary, and he is reportedly set to join another EuroLeague team soon. The departure is a significant blow for Maccabi, as Loyd was regarded as the team’s most valuable player. However, understanding the player’s concerns, Maccabi expressed disappointment but recognized the safety concerns for Loyd and his family, ultimately respecting the decision.

In light of the situation, several other foreign players—Rokas Jokubaitis, Levi Randolph, Jaylen Hoard, and Alpha Kaba—will return to Israel following their EuroLeague game against AS Monaco, with plans to participate in the Israeli League game against Ness Ziona. However, Jasiel Rivero will not travel with the team.

This departure highlights the ongoing challenges Maccabi faces due to the geopolitical situation, as they look to quickly find a replacement to fill the gap left by Loyd.
