Manchester City Eye €60m Move for Martin Zubimendi to Cover Rodri’s Injury
Manchester City are allegedly mulling a €60 million move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the January transfer window as they look to replace the injured Rodri. According to Relevo, Pep Guardiola’s side is aiming to activate Zubimendi’s release clause, since the 25-year-old has yet to sign a new contract with his La Liga club.
Rodri, perhaps City’s most important player, has been sidelined for the season due to injury, creating a big hole in the squad. Liverpool previously attempted to recruit Zubimendi during the summer transfer window, but the midfielder decided to stay at Anoeta Stadium for another season. He contributed significantly to Spain’s victory in Euro 2024, cementing his position as one of Europe’s best defensive midfielders.
