Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is facing a major concern ahead of the highly anticipated North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, as skipper Martin Odegaard could be sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained during international duty.
The 25-year-old Norwegian midfielder appeared to injure his ankle in the second half of Norway’s 2-1 win over Austria. Odegaard was seen boarding a plane back to London on crutches, raising doubts about his availability for the derby.
Norway’s head coach Stale Solbakken commented on the injury, saying, “It looked bad in the dressing room too.” Odegaard is set to undergo an MRI scan upon his return to Arsenal to determine the severity of the injury.
