NEWY’S LEAVE DATE CONFIRMED AFTER RED BULL EXIT

Adrian Newey will join Aston Martin next season, marking the end of his long-standing relationship with Red Bull.

Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan confirmed that Adrian Newey took a temporary leave from Red Bull before moving to Aston Martin. The Silverstone-based team announced that Newey will join them on March 1, 2025, ending the renowned car designer’s long association with Red Bull.

The announcement was made during a celebration held in Silverstone, which was criticized by Red Bull team principal Christian Horner as “premature.”

However, Jordan, who helped facilitate Newey’s departure from Red Bull, confirmed that the 65-year-old Newey will no longer collaborate with the F1 team. In a statement to the Formula For Success podcast, Jordan said, “You haven’t heard from me until September 6, and that was the date given by Red Bull regarding whether they could say anything.”

“I’m hearing nothing but admiration for Adrian because he hasn’t said a word until the date given by Red Bull for us to make any comments.”

“Adrian is not there. He is on leave. There’s a date of September 6 set in his contract by me and Red Bull. That date was adhered to in every way.”

“I assure you, I don’t know anyone who violated that. So we did our utmost to respect it, and Adrian was very meticulous about it.”

Jordan, who has spoken to many key figures during his time in F1, stated that working with Newey was one of the best experiences of his career.

“My belief is that I must say this without leaving any room for doubt – I wouldn’t have said this – but I can say that arranging Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull is probably one of the biggest professional and coolest things I’ve ever done.”

“It was probably the best thing I’ve ever done. The reason I say this is that I’m very proud of how elegantly it was arranged and coordinated.”

“I take pride in Red Bull. I take pride in myself and what I did there, and I’m incredibly proud of Adrian and how he handled this situation,” he said.
