Nigel Hayes-Davis Ignites in the Third Quarter; Fenerbahce Defeats Bayern Munich
In the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Fenerbahce hosted Bayern Munich in Round 9 action.
On the first leg of a double-game week, Fenerbahce took control of the game from the second quarter and widened the lead in the third, fueled by Nigel Hayes-Davis’ incredible scoring spree. Fenerbahce secured a commanding 87-76 victory over Bayern Munich.
With this win, Fenerbahce improved to 7-2 in the league. Their next matchup in the double-game week will be on the road against Zalgiris Kaunas. Bayern Munich, who suffered their third defeat in nine games, will next face ALBA Berlin at home.
Hayes-Davis led Fenerbahce’s charge with 18 points in the third quarter alone, finishing with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Devon Hall added 12 points and 7 assists, while Bonzie Colson contributed 11 points and 3 rebounds. Nicolo Melli put up 9 points and 5 rebounds, Sertaç Şanlı recorded 7 points and 4 rebounds, Tarık Biberovic added 9 points, and Marko Guduric scored 6 points.
For Bayern, Carsen Edwards scored 22 points and handed out 5 assists. Devin Booker contributed 18 points and 4 rebounds, Oscar Da Silva added 10 points and 2 rebounds, Andreas Obst had 6 points and 1 rebound, and Nick Weiler-Babb filled the stat sheet with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The game started slowly, with no points in the first two minutes until Bonzie Colson opened the scoring. Bayern Munich briefly took the lead at 5-8, largely due to Carsen Edwards, who scored 9 points in the first quarter. Bayern stretched the gap to double digits, but Fenerbahce responded with Marko Guduric’s scoring, ending the first quarter down 12-21.
Fenerbahce found their rhythm in the second quarter. Guduric and Melli sparked a comeback, narrowing the score to 17-21. Sertaç Şanlı’s 5 consecutive points pulled Fenerbahce within one, and Bonzie Colson’s three-pointer put them ahead at 25-23. Fenerbahce built a six-point cushion at 29-23 with Khem Birch’s scoring and maintained a 33-27 lead behind Colson’s steady play. Despite a Bayern push to cut the deficit, Fenerbahce entered halftime leading 35-30 after a buzzer-beater by Devon Hall.
The second half opened with Bayern’s Devin Booker hitting a three, followed by Andreas Obst leveling the score at 37-37. Fenerbahce responded with a 5-0 run from Hayes-Davis and Sertaç Şanlı, reclaiming the lead at 42-37. Although Bayern tried to stay close through Edwards and Booker, Hayes-Davis extended Fenerbahce’s advantage to 47-41. Bayern continued to lean on Edwards, but Hayes-Davis dominated the quarter with 18 points, propelling Fenerbahce to a 67-58 lead heading into the final quarter.
Fenerbahce opened the fourth with Hayes-Davis scoring back-to-back, increasing the margin to 72-58. Bayern made attempts to close the gap, but Biberovic’s consecutive three-pointers maintained Fenerbahce’s hold at 75-62. Following an unsportsmanlike foul on Oscar Da Silva, Skylar Mays pushed the score to 80-66. Fenerbahce held their lead through the final minutes, with Biberovic’s three-pointer sealing the 87-76 victory.
