Paul Pogba’s Future at Juventus Uncertain After Doping Ban Reduction

Comments from important Juventus players indicate the World Cup-winning midfielder is no longer considered as part of their ambitions, therefore Paul Pogba’s stay with the club may be reaching its conclusion. Pogba’s future is nonetheless unknown even if his four-year doping suspension has been appealed down to eighteen months.

Originally suspended four years, Pogba might now be qualified to start his professional career in March 2025 following Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rulings lowering his term. He has only made 12 appearances since returning Juventus from Manchester United in 2022, though, and not appeared for the team since August 2023. Although Pogba’s contract extends until the summer of 2026, the conditions have already been changed and there is conjecture that they may be terminated completely.

Juve’s Opinions on Pogba’s Situation

When questioned about Pogba’s circumstances after the punishment was lowered, Juventus coach Thiago Motta said: “Pogba was a great player.” in the past tense.

Similar thoughts were expressed by club director Cristiano Giuntoli, who similarly spoke Pogba as though his finest years with the team were behind him:

“We have to wait for the ultimate appeal verdict. He obviously was a fantastic player, but he has been absent for some time. We shall wait for the CAS outcome.”

These remarks underline the uncertainty about Pogba’s future at Juventus, suggesting that even with his possible comeback in 2025 the club could not consider him as a major player.
