PSG and Kylian Mbappe Face Off in a €55 Million Payment Dispute

A major financial dispute has erupted between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and former star Kylian Mbappe, with the French club refusing to pay the €55 million owed in salary and bonuses.

The disagreement between PSG and Mbappe over unpaid salary and bonus payments has deepened. After joining Real Madrid following the expiration of his contract, the French forward is still demanding €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses from his former club. However, PSG remains adamant about not paying this amount, even rejecting a ruling by the French Football Federation (LFP), which mandated the payment.

The financial obligation PSG owes to Mbappe includes a signing bonus promised in February and the last three months of his salary in Paris. Yet the club argues that the legal process is incomplete and that the matter should be referred to another judicial authority, thus refusing to make the payment.

Mbappe Quickly Adapts to Madrid

This conflict started when Mbappe rejected PSG’s contract extension offer, which paved the way for him to leave the club on a free transfer. In response, PSG placed the player on the transfer list and briefly excluded him from the first team. However, both parties eventually reached an agreement that allowed Mbappe to return to the squad.

According to PSG, Mbappe’s legal team proposed a reduction of €55 million in the player’s bonuses for 2023, which facilitated his return to the squad. However, it is claimed that this agreement was never formalized or reported to the Ligue 1 authorities.

Despite the financial turmoil, Mbappe has made a strong start at Real Madrid. He scored in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta and netted twice against Real Betis in La Liga, signaling his return to top form.
