According to Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, Red Bull began heading in the wrong direction with car development in 2023.
Red Bull Racing had one of the most successful seasons in Formula 1 history last year, winning 21 of the 22 races. However, just 12 months later, their previous advantage has faded, and they have lost the championship lead to McLaren.
Christian Horner stated that the issues they are facing today stem from the updates introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix last year. Horner said, “Looking chronologically at the development process, we identified that the first mistake occurred at the 2023 Barcelona race when we introduced a new floor.”
“During the same Grand Prix, Sergio began experiencing the first issues with the car. But since Max continued to win, we did not take it seriously.”
Red Bull Racing is preparing new parts for the United States Grand Prix in Austin this October. The team aims to move forward with these updates.
