Southampton Agree on Fee with Arsenal for Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale
Southampton has reached an agreement with Arsenal for the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. The deal includes a fixed fee of £18 million, with the potential to rise to £25 million through performance-related add-ons. While some aspects of the deal are still being negotiated, all parties are optimistic about its completion.
Ramsdale, who is under contract with Arsenal until 2026, has been informed that he can leave the club if the right offer comes in. The England international lost his starting position to David Raya last season, fueling speculation about his departure this summer.
Earlier this week, Southampton was close to signing Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow but withdrew from the deal during the medical stage. Meanwhile, Arsenal has made significant progress in securing Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia as Ramsdale’s replacement and is in a strong position to finalize the deal once Ramsdale’s transfer is complete.
