Covic lets Pesic leave door open so he may continue coaching Serbia.
With continuous talks on his future position, Nebojsa Covic, the recently appointed president of the Serbian Basketball Federation, has disclosed that Svetislav Pesic might possibly resurfaced as the head coach of the Serbian national team. Pesic resigned from his post when his contract ran out on September 30, but Covic underlined that discussions regarding his engagement in some form are still under progress.
Covic said in an interview on Nova TV that he had three talks with Pesic and intends to carry on the dialogue. “It’s important that he stays involved, whether as a head coach or in another role, depending on the model we choose.” Covic stated, as Sportal reported. “That’s what we wish, but he has to decide whether he’s ready. Key is continuity, particularly considering EuroBasket next year. Though the country expects great things, the duty is also great.”
Respect for Pesic’s Choice
Covic stressed the need of honoring Pesic’s choice if he decides not to be head coach, therefore appreciating the senior coach’s right to evaluate his capacity and will to lead. ” Should he choose not to, I have no problems.
