The quarter-final stage of the 2024 European Football Championship begins. Today, two matches will be played in the quarter-finals of EURO 2024.

The first quarter-final matches of the 2024 European Football Championship, hosted by Germany, will be played today.

In what is dubbed as an “early final,” Spain will face Germany.

The match will kick off at 19:00 CET at Stuttgart Arena.

HOW DID THEY GET TO THE QUARTER-FINALS?

Spain reached the quarter-finals by winning all their matches.

In Group B, Spain, alongside Italy, Croatia, and Albania, advanced as group leaders with a perfect record of three wins and no goals conceded. They then eliminated Georgia in the round of 16 to secure their quarter-final spot.

Host nation Germany, in Group A, faced Switzerland, Hungary, and Scotland. With two wins and one draw, Germany moved on to the round of 16, where they defeated Denmark to reach the quarter-finals.

In another quarter-final match today, EURO 2016 finalists Portugal and France will face off.

The match will begin at 22:00 CET at Volkspark Stadium.

France started the tournament in Group D alongside Austria, the Netherlands, and Poland. With one win and two draws, France collected five points to advance as runners-up behind Austria. They scored two goals and conceded one during the group stage. In the round of 16, France defeated Belgium 1-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.

Portugal, in Group F with Turkey, finished as group leaders with six points from two wins and one loss. They scored five goals and conceded three in three matches. In the round of 16, Portugal advanced past Slovenia on penalties.
