Transfer Plans at Manchester City: Rodri’s Position Filled from Spain

Following Rodri’s season-ending cruciate ligament injury, Manchester City is planning to make a move during the January transfer window. The top target on Pep Guardiola’s list is Martin Zubimendi, who plays for Real Sociedad.

With Rodri’s long-term absence, Manchester City has prioritized strengthening their midfield. The club initially filled Rodri’s void with Mateo Kovacic, but is now looking towards Zubimendi for the January transfer.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Manchester City is interested in Zubimendi and is seriously considering a transfer due to his release clause.

The report states that the release clause for the Spanish midfielder is set at €60 million. The 25-year-old was also linked with Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

MARTIN ZUBIMENDI’S CAREER

Martin Zubimendi began his football career in Real Sociedad’s youth academy and was promoted to the first team in 2020. Throughout his career, he has only worn the Sociedad jersey, making 248 appearances for the club. In these matches, Zubimendi has scored 13 goals and provided 8 assists.
