Vettel back on Porsche’s radar

Porsche is showing interest in Sebastian Vettel for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Porsche will field three 963 hypercars on the grid for the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours race, but there is an open seat in the car occupied by Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr.

Urs Kuratl, Porsche LMDh factory programme manager, said Sebastian Vettel is among the candidates for this seat.

“We are missing a driver,” Urs Kuratle told Sportscar365.

“We are thinking about it but there is no concrete name yet,” he said.

Asked if Vettel could run for the vacant seat, Kuratle said: “I am not ruling it out.”

“Sebastian and Porsche have a friendly relationship and are in constant contact with each other. So I don’t rule it out, but the decision hasn’t been made yet.”

Four-time world champion Vettel tested the hypercar 963 earlier this year but did not take part in the race.

However, it is thought that this possibility would be quite high if preparations for this year start at an earlier point.
