Opet secures 2nd FIBA Women’s SuperCup victory over Besiktas
Fenerbahce Opet defeated Besiktas 79-63, securing their second consecutive FIBA Women’s SuperCup title.
The match played at the Basketball Development Center in Istanbul, was delayed due to crowd disturbances and was completed without spectators. Despite an early lead by Besiktas, Fenerbahce staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, ultimately dominating the remainder of the contest and securing a decisive victory.
Fenerbahce gains control in second half after close start
Both teams started the game strong, and the first quarter ended with a 16-16 tie. In the second quarter, Besiktas gained a 37-33 lead at halftime, with standout performances from Elif Bayram and Khaalia Hillsman, who scored 18 points.
However, Fenerbahce took over in the third quarter, launching a 6-0 run that gave them a 39-37 advantage. Emma Meesseman and Gabby Williams led the charge for Fenerbahce, pushing their team ahead to 55-51 by the end of the third quarter.

In the final quarter, Fenerbahce increased their lead, with strong plays from Sevgi Uzun and Williams. Williams scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and made five assists, earning her the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Sevgi Uzun led the team with 15 points, while Emma Meesseman contributed 14 points. Fenerbahce’s relentless pressure widened the score gap, ending the game with a 16-point victory.
Fenerbahce’s continued dominance in European women’s basketball
Fenerbahce’s victory marks their second straight SuperCup win, adding to their EuroLeague championship from last season.
FIBA Europe General Secretary Kamil Novak presented the trophy to Fenerbahce’s captains Alperi Onar and Emma Meesseman, who celebrated the victory with their teammates.
Coach Valerie Garnier praised the team’s preparation for the game and said that this win reflects the effort they put in over the past month. She also acknowledged Besiktas’ strong performance but emphasized Fenerbahce’s determination to overcome early difficulties.
