Finland Star Topi Keskinen Explains His Unusual Wayne Rooney Fishing Tattoo

Topi Keskinen, a winger from Finland and Aberdeen, has unveiled the inspiration for his unusual tattoo of Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney, which combines two of his main interests.

Featuring in Finland’s 3-1 loss to England, the 21-year-old winger has a distinctive tattoo depicting Rooney fishing. Although Keskinen had already said the tattoo merged his passion of Manchester United with fishing, he has now provided more analysis on the importance of the design.

A Tribute to His Favorite Player

In an interview, Keskinen explained that his tattoo is a personal homage to both his Everton-supporting mother and his all-time favorite player, Wayne Rooney:

“My mum’s an Everton fan, and Rooney played there, and when he made a move to Manchester United, I started watching United games. He was like an idol to me on the field,” Keskinen said. “I was watching his highlights in every game that he played in his career, so he’s my favorite player in my life. So, I tattooed him fishing, because I like fishing also. It’s my two favorite things combined in one tattoo.”
