Former footballer and coach Sergen Yalcin reacted strongly after Nuri Sahin responded to his previous statements.

Speaking on KAFA Sports, Sergen Yalcin said:

“I didn’t say anything bad about Nuri Sahin. He seems like a good kid, could go far. He studied at Harvard, but I don’t know what kind of football education he got there. What I said was, ‘You can’t achieve anything in coaching without success.’ You need to go through certain phases. People have seen potential in Nuri Sahin and entrusted him with a team. His response to me is completely unnecessary.

My friend Nuri, I have badges, badges. What do you have, where is your success? I could say, ‘What have you achieved?’ And you’d be speechless. Do you have a trophy? Have you set any records in the Champions League? Don’t make me start looking into Borussia Dortmund’s last two away games, where they conceded seven goals in Germany.

As for Francesco Farioli, you wouldn’t even dare talk about him. You don’t have that level of coaching yet. You can’t criticize a coach because you’re not there yet. That’s the difference between us. I have trophies; I’ve already been there, and we’re not on the same level as Farioli and others. They have no success in coaching. Let them succeed first, win some trophies, then we’ll talk if they manage that.

Nuri Sahin has no ratings, for heaven’s sake! Who’s going to get ratings from talking about Nuri Sahin? Also, I didn’t say anything bad about the kid. I said good things. He’s decent, respectful, and will be successful. But if you respond to me, I’ll destroy you. Just stay quiet and do your job. You’re not at the level yet to discuss coaching with me. Until you win trophies and wear badges, you can’t talk to me much about coaching. You’ll keep quiet and focus on your work.

Look, they’ve given you such great value there. Focus on that. As for those social media people, those guys on Twitter… Forget that stuff, leave it out. Don’t do those things, there’s no need for it. I hope you’re very successful and represent Turkey. How much you’re representing Turkey is debatable, but if you succeed, we’ll be proud of you. You go to Harvard for three months and take a pretend course, then pump it up on social media. You can do that in Germany, but it won’t work here!”
