Former USWNT Star Kelley O’Hara to Be Honored During USA vs. Iceland Friendly

Two-time World Cup champion and Olympian Kelley O’Hara will be celebrated for her illustrious career at halftime of the USWNT’s friendly against Iceland on October 27 in Nashville, Tennessee. O’Hara, who announced earlier this year that 2023 would be her final professional season with Gotham FC, is set to be honored for her immense contributions to the U.S. women’s national team and her impact on the professional game.

O’Hara’s career with the USWNT is nothing short of remarkable. From 2011 to 2023, she represented the national team in every senior world championship, earning two World Cup titles and two Olympic gold medals. She finished her international career with 160 caps, contributing 21 assists and scoring three goals—highlights of an impressive run that made her one of the most respected defenders in women’s soccer.

Gotham FC and NWSL Contributions

O’Hara was recently placed on Gotham FC’s season-ending injury list, making her final appearance for the club on September 8. Her time in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) saw her not only join Gotham FC in 2022 but also score the game-winning goal for the Washington Spirit in their dramatic extra-time victory over the Chicago Red Stars in the 2021 NWSL Championship.

A Legacy to Celebrate

As O’Hara prepares to hang up her boots, the halftime ceremony during the USWNT friendly will serve as a fitting tribute to her storied career and dedication to the sport. Fans and teammates will gather to celebrate O’Hara’s incredible journey and the legacy she leaves behind for both the national team and the NWSL.
