In Spain, four people have been arrested for initiating a racist campaign against Vinicius Junior, who plays for Real Madrid, via social media.
The Spanish National Police announced that these four individuals were arrested for starting a hate-filled racist campaign targeting Vinicius ahead of the match between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid on September 29.
The police explained that the suspects are accused of “inciting hatred and racism” and indicated that more arrests may be forthcoming.
It has been noted that measures and sanctions against the increasing incidents of racism in Spanish football have been intensified recently.
In connection with two different incidents involving Vinicius, who is one of the players most subjected to racist remarks, the Spanish judiciary imposed prison sentences, fines, and bans from sporting events on four individuals in June and September.
