Arne Slot Clarifies Touchline Incident, Denies Insulting Fourth Official
Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, has refuted claims that he used derogatory language toward the fourth official during the team’s 2-2 tie with Arsenal. Referee Anthony Taylor gave Slot a yellow card after he became irate, but Slot maintains that his comments were misinterpreted and not meant as an insult.
Slot said after the game that the fourth official mistook his remark, which was meant for defender Ibrahima Konaté, for one that was made at him.
“They were on the floor so frequently that it depleted the game’s vigor. Thus, I told Konaté, “This is a fcking joke,” and I told him, “You are a fcking joke,” as the fourth official thought. However, I most certainly did not say that.”
Slot now faces the prospect of suspension after receiving two yellow cards, which makes it much more important for Liverpool’s management to watch him closely on the touchline in future games.
