Following their 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the Women’s Super League, Arsenal star Beth Mead has candidly discussed the challenging times her squad is going through and urged support as the Gunners battle increasing pressure.
Arsenal now ranks sixth in the WSL after losing to Chelsea; trailing leaders Manchester City by five points. To further their problems, the Gunners were recently thrashed mercilessly by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, which increased pressure on Jonas Eidevall and his team.
Beth Mead’s Plea for Support
In a candid interview with Hayters, Mead called for a more supportive environment as the team navigates this challenging period. She acknowledged the pressure but emphasized that negativity isn’t helpful at this time:
“Players just need a bit more confidence, we’re in a tough place at the moment, people need to help us a little bit,” Mead explained. “I think there’s not so many nice things being said about us as a team right now, and it’s not the place or the time for doing that. We need to be picked up.”
