Borussia Dortmund’s Away Nightmare Continues
In the Bundesliga’s 10th round, Borussia Dortmund suffered another setback on the road, losing 3-1 to Mainz 05. The team’s away struggles persisted, compounded by Emre Can’s early red card, which left Dortmund down to 10 men just 25 minutes into the game.
Mainz took the lead in the 36th minute through Jae-Sung Lee. Dortmund managed a quick response when Guirassy converted a penalty in the 40th minute, but Mainz’s Burkardt restored their advantage in first-half stoppage time, making it 2-1 at the break. In the second half, Nebel’s goal in the 54th minute extended Mainz’s lead, sealing the 3-1 victory.
This marks Mainz’s third win of the season, bringing them to 13 points, while Dortmund remains winless on the road, having lost four out of their five away games, with one ending in a draw. After this loss, Dortmund stays at 16 points, further highlighting their challenges in away fixtures this season.
