Bruno Fernandes Feels “Responsible” for Ten Hag’s Departure
Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, has apologized to Erik ten Hag directly and conveyed emotions of responsibility for the Dutchman’s recent dismissal. After Fernandes scored his first Premier League goal of the season in United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, the midfielder talked candidly about how Ten Hag’s exit affected both him and the squad.
Ten Hag had a difficult season at Old Trafford and was fired earlier this week. In light of the fact that managers frequently shoulder the responsibility when the team performs poorly, Fernandes reflected on the dismissal and admitted that bad team performance had contributed to the decision.
Fernandes’ Statement
Speaking to Sky Sports, Fernandes said:
“It is not good for anyone at the club when the manager goes. The team is not performing well, and he is the one who pays for it. Whenever you see a manager leave, you have to take some of the blame yourself. I wasn’t scoring goals, and I feel responsible. I usually score a lot of goals but always gave 100%.”
