Chris Eubank Jr: Whittaker’s Style is Captivating

Since his victory over Liam Smith last year, Chris Eubank Jr. has been evaluating his options, having been initially speculated as a potential opponent for Canelo Alvarez this summer. However, Canelo is now set to face Edgar Berlanga on September 14.

With that fight off the table, Eubank Jr. has turned to other prospects, and when asked about a potential bout with rising British light heavyweight contender Ben Whittaker, Eubank expressed interest. Speaking to Sky Sports, Eubank said, “I hadn’t heard of it; I didn’t know there was talk of it.”

Both fighters are known for their entertaining, flashy styles, and Eubank Jr. acknowledged that it could be an exciting matchup, though questions remain about the weight division in which they would fight.

Eubank also recognized Whittaker’s growing popularity, both in the ring and on social media, which has helped him build a strong following. “His style makes him very noticeable on social media, and that’s great. But I’ve been in fights.”

He went on to say that such a fight would be rare and exciting for British boxing fans, noting the lack of many fighters who generate that kind of interest on social media.

This matchup, should it happen, would definitely draw a lot of attention from the UK boxing community.
