Enzo Maresca Frustrated Over Lisandro Martinez’s Challenge on Cole Palmer

Enzo Maresca, the manager of Chelsea, expressed his annoyance at Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United’s contentious challenge on Cole Palmer during their most recent Premier League match. The Chelsea team felt they lost a chance to move up to third place in the standings when Maresca contended that Martinez’s high tackle on Palmer deserved a red card instead of the yellow awarded in stoppage time.

Palmer was caught high on his leg by Martinez’s rush into a tackle late in the game. To Maresca’s annoyance, the referee decided that the challenge was worthy of a caution. Martinez’s challenge was deemed hazardous enough by the Chelsea manager to warrant dismissal, a decision that might have changed the course of the hotly contested match.

Additional Issues with Refereeing

Other controversial calls during the game included a penalty call from United supporters for Wesley Fofana’s challenge on Marcus Rashford. Although this appeal was denied, United went ahead with a penalty kick from Bruno Fernandes, but Moises Caicedo equalized to ensure that the points were split in a close match.
