Fatih Özkan Apologizes for Incident Involving Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç at Göztepe Match

Fatih Özkan, who pushed and caused Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç to fall while the latter was returning from addressing fans during the contentious Göztepe-Fenerbahçe match on August 17, 2024, at İzmir Gürsel Aksel Stadium, has issued an apology.

Fatih Özkan, who was present at the stadium with a Göztepe accreditation card and was subsequently released under judicial control after giving a statement to the prosecutor, made a written apology.

In his statement, Fatih Özkan expressed his regret over the incident and apologized to both clubs involved.

The statement reads as follows:
“I want to express my deep regret over the unfortunate incident that occurred on 17/08/24 during the match between two esteemed clubs in our football league, which continues to occupy public attention. As one of the parties involved in this incident, I want it to be known that I am extremely saddened by what transpired. To avoid further unnecessary public attention on this matter and to prevent any distress to the fans of both distinguished clubs, I respectfully offer my apologies to the public, to GöztepeSpor Club, to our club’s honorary president Mehmet Sepil, to Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Ali Y. Koç, and to the entire Fenerbahçe community.”
