Now that’s a unique idea!
FC Bayern basketball coach Gordon Herbert (65) is a big fan of team-building activities. “It helps the players grow even closer together,” said the 2023 World Champion coach recently. Whether it’s climbing or canyoning, Herbert always comes up with some wild ideas.
And now, he’s done it again!
Over the weekend, the Bayern stars participated in a test tournament in Ljubljana (Slovenia). In the first game against EuroLeague rival Efes Istanbul, Bayern lost 77-82 (43-38). In the second game, they defeated hosts Cedevita Olimpia 82-66 (42-38).
Then things got interesting!
First, there was a workshop with group discussions. “I want the players to share their visions and goals with me,” Herbert had said beforehand. Goals, visions, roles, and rules were all defined.
His vision is clear: “To defend the championship and reach the Final Four in the EuroLeague.”
A wine tasting with a twist
After the discussion round, things became both elegant and educational…
As Sport BILD learned, the second meeting took place at a vineyard. World champion Andreas Obst (28) and his teammates observed the grape harvest, enjoyed a good meal, and learned a lot about winemaking.
Whether any players participated directly is unknown, but with shoe sizes beyond 48, stomping grapes would have been child’s play!
On September 20th (8 PM, live on DYN), Bayern kicks off the new BBL season against Niners Chemnitz. Then we’ll see if the grape harvest has paid off…
