Former England Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson Laid to Rest in Sweden
Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has been laid to rest in a funeral attended by 600 mourners, including David Beckham, in Torsby, Sweden. Eriksson passed away on 26 August at the age of 76, following a battle with cancer.
The funeral service took place at Fryksande Church, with Eriksson’s coffin arriving at 07:00 local time. The service was conducted in both Swedish and English, with hundreds of mourners gathered outside to watch the proceedings on a large screen.
During the eulogy, mention was made of Eriksson’s final months, including fulfilling his dream of managing Liverpool during a charity match in March.
A guard of honour was formed as Eriksson’s coffin was placed into a hearse and taken to Kollsbergs hembygdsgård. Among those paying their respects were Roy Hodgson, Eriksson’s successor as England manager, and members of the Swedish royal family.
