Funeral Ceremony Held for Christoph Daum at RheinEnergie Stadium

A funeral ceremony was held at the RheinEnergie Stadium in Cologne, Germany, for the late German coach Christoph Daum, who passed away on 25 August. Daum, who had notable stints at Turkish clubs Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Bursaspor, was honored by figures from both the Turkish and German sports communities. Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç was among those who attended.

The ceremony saw emotional tributes from well-known figures in the German sports world as well as politicians. Photos, videos, and speeches reflecting on Daum’s career brought many heartfelt moments to the event.

An orchestra, directed by Turkish conductor and composer Betin Güneş, performed the song “Bir Başkaadır Benim Memleketim” (My Hometown is Different), a request from Daum’s family to emphasize the coach’s connection to Turkey and its people.

Daum, who had been undergoing treatment for lung disease, passed away at the age of 70.
