Harry Kane Urges England Players to Protect Team Culture Ahead of Tuchel Era

As the Three Lions get ready for the arrival of new head coach Thomas Tuchel, Harry Kane has warned his England colleagues about the significance of preserving the “fragile” culture established under former boss Gareth Southgate. Concerns have been raised by the captain’s remarks after nine players were cut from the squad before Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland.

Kane Highlights Team Culture Risks

Reflecting on the groundwork laid by Southgate, Kane acknowledged how easily a cohesive team culture can be lost:

“It takes a long time to build, and maybe not so long to lose if you’re not careful,” Kane said. “The experienced players are well aware of that. Lee [Carsley] has done a great job, and I’m sure Thomas [Tuchel] will bring his own ideas about how to develop his culture.”

The Role of Senior Players

Kane emphasized the responsibility of experienced squad members, including himself, Kyle Walker, and Jordan Pickford, to instill values and team spirit in younger players.

“It’s down to me and some of the older ones, like Walks and Picks, who’ve been here for a while, to show that to the younger players coming through,” Kane explained. “From now until the World Cup, step by step, we have to build that culture.”
