Johan Kristoffersson wins World Rallycross Championship
Swedish Johan Kristoffersson became the champion as a result of the qualifying races in the 9th leg of the 2024 World Rallycross Championship held in Istanbul.The qualifying races of the 9th leg of the championship organized by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) were held at Istanbul Park.
Johan Kristoffersson, the leader of the pilots’ standings from the KMS-HORSE Powertrain team, finished the first qualifying race in second place and the second qualifying race in first place in the series he competed in.
Thus, increasing the gap between himself and his closest rival, Swedish Kevin Hansen (Hansen World RX), to 52 points, Red Bull athlete Kristoffersson declared himself champion before today’s semi-final and final races and tomorrow’s final stage races.
KRISTOFFERSSON IS THE 7TH TIME CHAMPION
Johan Kristoffersson, the most successful driver in the World Rallycross Championship, won his 7th championship in the organization.
Coming to Istanbul with a big points advantage in the pilots’ classification, Kristoffersson achieved his 7th victory, 5 in a row.
The Swedish driver won the championship in the 11th edition of the event, having previously won in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
