Lionel Messi Available for Selection for Inter Miami, Confirms Manager Tata Martino

Lionel Messi is officially back from injury and ready for selection, as confirmed by Inter Miami manager Tata Martino. After nearly two months sidelined with an ankle injury, Messi is in contention to play against the Philadelphia Union.

The Argentine star has not featured for Inter Miami since June 1, after joining Argentina for Copa America 2024. Messi sustained an ankle sprain during the final on July 15, which kept him out of both the MLS All-Star game and the 2024 Leagues Cup.

What Martino Said

“He’s fine,” Martino told the media when asked about Messi’s fitness. “Yesterday, he returned to training. He is considered for tomorrow’s game, and after training, we will define the strategy for him, but he is available. We are excited to have the best player in the world back with the team.”
