Lonnie Walker: “I Couldn’t Hit a Basket if the Hoop Were as Big as the Ocean”

Lonnie Walker reflects on his EuroLeague debut.

In the 8th week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Bayern Munich defeated Zalgiris Kaunas at home, securing their fifth consecutive win. Lonnie Walker, a new addition to Zalgiris Kaunas, made his debut for the team but had a disappointing performance.

Playing 12 minutes in Munich, Walker went 0-for-8 from the field and finished the game scoreless. Reflecting on his performance, Walker remarked, “I couldn’t hit a basket if the hoop were as big as the ocean, but this was my first game.”

He continued, “I learned a lot. Bayern Munich won, and they’re on a five-game winning streak. I had a bad game, but we’re having a great season overall. I’m not worried or upset about how I played.”

The star player expressed confidence in himself, adding, “This is a new environment, but I’m giving it my all every day. I believe in myself. I want to take more shots and be mentally and physically ready for the next game.”

When asked about the difference between the NBA and EuroLeague, Walker said, “It’s a bit more physical here, but overall, there’s not a huge difference.”
