Makelele in Talks for Return to England After Quitting Greek Club

Famous Chelsea player Claude Makelele may make an unexpected comeback to English football, only a few days after quitting as manager of Greek team Asteras Tripolis. Makelele quit the team after just three games, allegedly because he couldn’t come to terms with the owners.

The former France international is reportedly in negotiations with Cardiff City of the Championship, according to LondonWorld. Considered as one of the best defensive midfielders of his time, Makelele represented Chelsea in 217 games from 2003 to 2008.

Nevertheless, his managerial career has failed to match his on-field accomplishments; he had disappointing stints at Eupen and Bastia before a brief stay at Asteras. Taking over Cardiff City, who is now without a manager and at the bottom of the Championship, would be a difficult assignment for the 51-year-old.
