Official: Alpine to use Mercedes power unit from 2026 and beyond!

The Alpine Formula 1 team has officially announced that it will switch to the Mercedes power unit from the 2026 season.

Last month, Renault-owned Alpine decided to halt its long-running engine project in F1 earlier this year.

At that time, it was said that the team would make an agreement with Mercedes for the supply of power units, and these rumors have now become official.

Alpine announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Mercedes starting from the 2026 season with the following words: “Alpine, Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains and Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix have signed power unit and gearbox agreements starting with the 2026 world championship.”

“The multi-year agreement will see Mercedes-Benz supply Alpine with power units for the duration of the new regulation period from 2026 to at least 2030. In addition to the power unit, Alpine will also be supplied with Mercedes transmissions from the 2026 season onwards.”

“The team is focused on performing as strongly as possible in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.”
