With just one race remaining and McLaren trailing Ferrari by only 21 points, the battle for the constructors’ championship is heating up ahead of the final showdown in Abu Dhabi. Mika Häkkinen, a former McLaren driver, has expressed his confidence that McLaren will emerge victorious.
In his column for Unibet, Häkkinen highlighted the importance of the upcoming race: “The biggest question this weekend is who will win the teams’ championship.”
“My old team, p1 McLaren, is in a fight with Ferrari, and the battle will be decided this weekend. Whoever wins the constructors’ championship will take home the largest share of Formula 1’s prize money, worth around $1.6 billion.”
Häkkinen also discussed the potential for p1 McLaren to make up ground: “There are 21 points between the two teams, and McLaren could secure a double win on Sunday, adding up to 44 points by setting the fastest lap. Of course, Ferrari will aim for a perfect result and hope McLaren faces difficulties.”
While Ferrari has been strong in qualifying, Häkkinen noted Max Verstappen’s dominance in recent years, with the Dutch driver winning the last four Abu Dhabi races. However, Häkkinen believes p1 McLaren will still come out on top: “Max Verstappen could be the favourite this weekend, but it seems to me that McLaren will take the championship, with both a Ferrari and McLaren driver on the podium.”
As the final race approaches, p1 McLaren is ready to fight for the coveted title in what promises to be an exciting conclusion to the season.
