Pep Guardiola Praises Man City After UCL Stalemate, Takes Aim at Inter’s Defensive Approach

Pep Guardiola was full of praise for his Manchester City side after they kicked off their Champions League campaign with a goalless draw against Inter Milan. Despite the lack of goals, Guardiola was impressed by his team’s performance, especially considering the defensive approach of the Serie A champions.

City dominated possession and registered 22 shots over the course of the match, but only five were on target as Erling Haaland and his teammates struggled to find openings against a well-organized Inter defense. Guardiola acknowledged the challenge posed by Inter’s defensive setup but remained positive about his team’s efforts.

“We played so good, I love my team. We are a fantastic team. That team defends really well, they are masters of defending, and they are also strong in transitions. We conceded maybe one or two chances. You can’t expect to create many opportunities when a team defends with 11 players so deep.”

Though the match ended in a stalemate, Guardiola’s confidence in his squad remains unwavering, even as they navigate the challenges of facing some of Europe’s toughest defenses.
