Roberto Mancini Era Nears Its End: Successor Candidates Revealed
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation is reportedly set to part ways with National Team Head Coach Roberto Mancini. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, disappointing results in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers have left Mancini on the brink, with his time in Saudi Arabia appearing to be limited.
Sources suggest that the relationship between Mancini and the team has completely deteriorated, prompting the Saudi Federation to consider terminating the Italian coach’s contract. Mancini, who took over in August 2023 with a deal extending to June 2027, has led the team in 18 matches, securing seven wins, five draws, and six losses.
Potential Successors: Ramon Diaz and Herve Renard
The report also highlights possible successors. The top candidate is Argentine coach Ramon Diaz, currently managing Corinthians in Brazil and previously a coach for Saudi clubs Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Al Ittihad. Another strong option is Frenchman Herve Renard, who coached the Saudi national team from 2019 to 2023.
Both Diaz and Renard bring valuable experience within Saudi football, which could make them well-suited to stepping into Mancini’s role if he departs.
