Self-Criticism from Trabzonspor Coach Senol Gunes After Besiktas Match

Trabzonspor Head Coach Şenol Güneş offered self-criticism regarding his team’s performance following their 1-1 draw against Beşiktaş in the 5th week of the Süper Lig. Speaking after the match, Güneş expressed disappointment with the team’s performance and described the earned point as merely a consolation.

In his post-match remarks, Güneş stated, “We went out there to win, but especially defensively, we allowed the opponent too much space. We stayed in our own half for a long time and couldn’t make an impact up front. We struggled in ball possession, passing, and creating attacking opportunities. Even though we earned a point, it is just a consolation for us. The opponent was strong and had very effective players in attack. We tried to stay back and counter-attack, but we fell short in that too.”

Player Substitutions and Injuries

The experienced coach also spoke about player substitutions and injuries. “Cihan’s injury made things difficult for us. As for the substitutions, our central players resisted well. We expected players like Rashica and Masuaku to be more effective on the wings, but they got tired. Simon Banza made significant contributions during the match, and I hope his injury is not serious,” he stated.
