Striking Osimhen Admission! “Fenerbahce Wanted Him But…”

Galatasaray made headlines recently by securing the loan signing of world-renowned striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli. The Turkish club will pay the 25-year-old player a season salary of €6 million. In an official statement, Galatasaray confirmed:

“An agreement has been reached with professional footballer Victor James Osimhen and his club SSCN Napoli SPA for the free loan transfer of the player. A net salary of €6,000,000 will be paid for the 2024-2025 season.”

Osimhen shared his excitement about the move: “When I heard about Galatasaray’s interest, it was an easy decision for me. I knew how big of a club Galatasaray is, and how it feels like a family. They have an incredible fan base.”

The Nigerian striker credited his friend, Henry Onyekuru, who played for Galatasaray, with influencing his decision. Osimhen continued:

“Henry told me how amazing the club, the fans, and the people are. So, it was an easy decision for me.”

Osimhen expressed his joy at being warmly welcomed by fans at the airport: “When I landed at the airport, the fans welcomed me with such excitement that it made me feel very happy. These things are important for a player, and I want to give my all for them.”

The forward also spoke highly of his soon-to-be teammate, Dries Mertens, calling him a “big brother” and a respected figure. “I can’t wait to reunite with him and meet my new teammates.”

Osimhen revealed that he had already been following Galatasaray’s matches: “I was watching their games, especially since Mertens joined the club. I watched how he developed both as a player and as a person.”

Interestingly, Osimhen’s close friend, Buchi Laba, claimed that Fenerbahçe tried to make a last-minute attempt to sign the striker:

“Fenerbahçe was not happy about Osimhen joining Galatasaray. They made a final move, but Osimhen had already given his word to Galatasaray, and he’s a man of his word.”

Osimhen closed by sending a message to the fans: “Greetings to all Galatasaray fans. Osimhen is here. Thank you for welcoming me at the airport. I will dedicate myself to you and do my best.”
